FAQ
How do I enter?
You must create an add-on for Firefox 2 and submit it by 11:59pm pacific time on December 31st, 2007.
Can I enter an existing add-on?
Yes, however, a significant judging criteria will be around the innovativeness of entries. There are plans for an award program for existing add-ons in the works, so stay tuned.
Can add-ons be developed by a group or team?
Yes, however, only one prize package will be awarded per winning entry.
Can a company enter the contest?
This contest is open to individuals or groups. We're still working on plans to award innovation in commercial Firefox add-ons.
What do I win?
Three Grand Prize winners will each receive an Ultimate Firefox Developer Kit, including:
- Travel and accommodation to a Mozilla Developer Day of the winner's choice, anywhere in the world
- Development gear, including a brand new 15" Macbook Pro with VMware Fusion and ActiveState Komodo

All qualified entrants will receive, while supplies last, a Limited Edition Extend Firefox T-Shirt.
What happens with the entries after the contest?
All entries will be promoted on the Mozilla
Add-ons site to the more than 100 million people worldwide who are now using Firefox.
How do I create an add-on? What files do I need to submit?
We've compiled a set of Developer
Resources as a starting point for building your add-on. Once
complete, you must submit a fully compliant extension or theme that is compatible with Firefox 2.
Is this contest open to people outside of the United States?
Yes, we've spent a great deal of time to develop a set of rules that
work in most places in the world (with more in the works). It turns out
to be nontrivial to support every country, given the differences in laws governing skilled contests, but we've tried our best to be as inclusive as possible. Please see the Official Rules for more information. If you're interested and able to help us adapt these rules to work under your country's laws for contests, please contact us at extendfirefox@mozilla.com.
Are platform-specific add-ons eligible? (e.g. Windows only)
Participants can submit platform specific extensions, though submitting extensions that work on all platforms (i.e. Windows, Mac, and Linux) is highly encouraged.
